Building on a strong foundation.

In 1964, Bob and Lovella Ruckriegel opened Jerry’s Restaurant, a franchise coffee shop, in Jasper, IN. As Bob would often say, “nothing will ever replace a good cup of coffee served by someone who cares.” With this simple idea of bringing a better restaurant experience to their hometown, the two embarked on a 50 year journey of providing quality franchise restaurants to the four-state region of Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, and Michigan. Their company, BR Associates, became defined by three important pillars: quality food, caring team members, and strong community ties.

Growing up working in the restaurants, the Ruckriegel sons, Al and Sid, followed their parents’ footsteps into the restaurant business. In 1986 they formed SIDAL, Inc., which would become a multi-state, multi-brand restaurant company built firmly on the same founding principles that had guided their parents. Over those growth years, owning and managing the real estate under the restaurant operations became an important foundation to strengthening the two companies.

During the 50th anniversary year in 2013, the Ruckriegel family merged BR Associates and SIDAL operating as SERVUS, Inc. With the real estate division becoming an ever more increasing focus of the new company, in 2020 the transition was completed to become a fully focused property management company. As always, the guiding pillars remain the same: quality businesses that add value to their local areas, caring team members, and strong community ties.
